Collaborative Project

Creative Arts BA (Hons), Other Projects

In the world of creative arts, collaboration is a bit like alchemy, turning diverse talents and perspectives into gold. It’s where learning from others isn’t just a by-product; it’s a key ingredient, offering a rich exchange of skills and ideas that push creative boundaries further than one might manage solo. But it’s not just about the art. The camaraderie of working on a joint venture bolsters invaluable life skills—communication, adaptability, and the art of compromise. Imagine embarking on projects that seemed too ambitious for one, now achievable with the collective genius of a group, amplifying both the work’s impact and its reach. And let’s not overlook the community spirit it fosters; these collaborations often forge lasting connections, knitting a network of support and friendship that transcends the project itself. In essence, collaboration in the creative arts isn’t just a pathway to innovative outcomes; it’s a journey that moulds more rounded individuals, armed with a blend of artistic prowess and interpersonal skills, ready to take on the creative world by storm.

Recently, I was lucky to take part in such a collaboration with Rachael Barns, a fellow artist.

Rachael used one of my poems as part of her sculptural texts that will be displayed later in the year at Revingham Sculpture Trail.

in the ashes
we yearn
for the touch of renewal
fire speaks
softly
of change
within us
a silent plea
to ignite
transform
and emerge
from darkness
a journey
of healing
and hope

in the quiet glow
we find
our strength
to begin again
with each ember
a promise
to ourselves
to embrace
the warmth
of starting anew
